A Few Neat Things
I haven't posted anything in a while, but I do have a lot of neat things that I've been wanted to share with you guys. Since I don't really have time to do a detailed post, I'll just do this real quick:
- Google Gears: Enable AJAX applications to save data to the user's hard drive. Seriously.
- Google Earth does hiking trails now! Yeah, cool huh? So now you can use Google Earth next time you go on a day hike (or even a multi-day hike since it shows camping locations) to plot out your trip. Very nice in deed. Source: Lifehacker.
- "The 5 Most Innovative Technologies of 2007". Maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but still really interesting stuff.
- Microsoft Photosynth - Microsoft Live Labs (Also known as Billy Gates' Toy Factory) has developed software that can take images from Flickr, figure out exactly where they occur in the world and from what angle they are shot, and graph them all together to form a three-dimentional view of that place. Holy Cannoli! This demo lets you download a working copy of Photosynth and virtually peruse a real location in 3D. More info here here and of course here.
